A Sneak Peek at WordPress 4.0 with Morten Rand-Hendriksen (recorded)

Earlier today I did a live Hangout for lynda.com about WordPress 4.0 and WordPress in general. Check out the video above and go to the Hangouts page to join the conversation.

Hey Morten

I just watched the 4.0 preview, and heard your comment about automatic updates. Most of my sites do automatically update, however my main site does not. It’s been around for a while, but I recently installed it in a new wp folder, with fresh files (same db tho.) That said it still does not update.

Is this all that I need to add to the config file to enable the feature?
define(‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, true);

I do have trouble auto-updating updating some plugins (eg. Yoast SEO). So I often wonder if there’s a folder permissions issue going on. The tmp version often sticks in the “upgrade” folder. (I can use the built in upload if I rename the plugin folder.)

So I’m leery about pressing the “update” button on 3.9.1.

BTW I also went though your “one-page” tutorial on lynda.com and found a possible anomaly with the scroll, when the toolbar is not showing. The “Book an Appointment” section scrolls up to where the bottom of the toolbar would be. The other sections are fine.
