Everybody’s favourite content management system and blogging platform WordPress is 10 years old this year. It powers 18% of the web. One in four new websites launched run WordPress. It represents over 58% of all CMS powered websites online. Yet we know very little about how people actually use WordPress.
Take the 2013 Design is Philosophy WordPress Survey
There have been several surveys about WordPress usage before, but these primarily look at power users and developers – the people who build stuff with and for WordPress. What I’m interested in is how the average WordPress user uses the application. Because at the end of the day it is all the non-developer, non-designer, non-power users who are the true users of the application and it is for them we should be building and extending the application.
To remedy this issue I have created a comprehensive survey and I am hoping you will take part. Whether you are a designer, developer, or you have only touched WordPress once I want to know more about how you use the application; what features you use, how you configured your site, how you learn about WordPress and so on. The goal is to get as many responses as possible to get a snapshot of the WordPress user base anno the summer of 2013, so take the survey yourself and share it with your friends, family, clients, Meetup group members, and anyone else using WordPress.
So, take 10 minutes out of your day, complete the survey, and share it with the world. When the survey period is over I will take all the numbers, crunch them, analyze them, and share them with the world right here on Design is Philosophy.
Thank you for helping me understand how you use WordPress!
